According to Vaughn McClure from the Chicago Tribune, Dusty Dvoracek, nose tackle for the Chicago Bears, was injured during training camp and will be having an MRI to look at just how bad the injury is. During the game against the Giants last week, Dvoracek was injured and taken out of the game.

It looks like he wasn’t fine. Now, Brad Briggs of the Sun Times is reporting that Dvoracek will probably be sidelined for the whole season. Briggs says that the injury is a torn ACL in his right knee, something he’s suffered from in the past as well.

I’m disappointed by this news. Ever since he was drafted three years ago, he has failed to live up to the expectations placed upon him. He plays hard, but the injury bug has held him down. He didn’t play a single game in 2006.

He played one game in 2007, until he went down for the season with a torn ACL in his right knee. Last season, 2008, he played 12 games and performed very well until he suffered from torn biceps.

I have to wonder if this spells out the end for Dvoracek. There’s only so much the Bears can take, and having injured the same knee twice now makes him a very risky proposition.

The former third round pick is on his last year of his contract. I don’t know if the Bears will want an injury prone player like Dusty on the team, you can’t count on him.

This reminds me of what happened with Mike Brown not too long ago. A great player who wants to succeed, but can’t because his body won’t allow him to.

The Bears will do their best to fill the void left by Dvoracek. Marcus Harrison and Anthony Adams will do their best in a time share, and Matt Toeanina will step into a starting role as well.
