The Cleveland Browns are looking quite miserable. After a very disappointing 2008 season, it doesn’t look like things are much better so far in 2009.
No more Kellen Winslow. Braylon Edwards, depending upon his mood, might be completely ineffective. No shining hope at running back, as Jamal Lewis has aged another year. The defense? Nothing special there either.
There was Brady Quinn, a young quarterback with a promising future, and Eric Mangini, who came over as the team’s new head coach after being dismissed from New York.
The 09′ season for the Browns has been dismal at best. Brady Quinn is scrambling for his life and Derek Anderson has yet to regain his form from the 07′ season. When two different quarterbacks throw more interceptions then touchdown passes, you know you are in trouble.
Eric Mangini, the new head coach of the Cleveland Browns, came from the New York Jets. While the pressure of coaching in Cleveland isn’t as great as in the city that never sleeps, Mangini has a mountain to climb. After not telling the public who his starting quarterback were until the very last minute, the Browns have been going nowhere fast.
Donte Stallworth would have provide Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson a target, Stallworth is suspended by the NFL for a DUI vehicular manslaughter incident in the off-season.
The future has looked dim for many teams in the NFL and remarkably they have turned their franchises around. The Browns have so many problems it’s hard to know where to begin. Hopefully either Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson can become what Browns fans thought they could be and acquire some young, explosive receivers.
Let’s put things into perspective for a second. During their last 8 games, the team has only scored a grand total of one touchdown. Even the Detroit Lions scored a touchdown each game last year. There’s simply nothing going on in Cleveland, and this has to be the last team I’d want to be a fan of as far as future prospects go.
