Being a goalkeeper requires a different set of mental attributes to being an outfield play in a football team. Goalkeepers experience extreme pressure and isolation every time they play a game and this is why it is said that goalkeepers need a different personality to outfield players. Their personality isn’t the only difference however, goalkeepers also dress differently to the rest of the time.

The biggest and best sports competition in the world is the quest for the World Cup of Soccer. Since 1930, the World Cup of Soccer has been akin to finding the Holy Grail in sports terms. The country of Brazil has been a leader in this quest, winning the World Cup an astounding five times (in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002). One could actually measure the success of the sport of soccer by the amount of times Brazil has competed and come out on top.

One of Englands most beloved sporting figures, Sir Bobby Robson, yielded to his courageous fight with cancer recently at the age of 75. Even the often critical British press had nothing bad to say about the universally respected Robson, headlining their obituaries with adjectives like The Bravest Knight or simply The Legend.

There are more than 300,000,000 people in the United States and the world population is quickly approaching 7 billion. Our country makes up just 5% of the entire global population, even less. The days of US athletic dominance may soon come to an end for this reason, unless the country wakes up from complacency and positions itself or the future.

Brazils’ Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, who came into the world on March 21st, 1980 in Porto Alegre, has become simply one of the best soccer players in the world and perhaps ever in his less-than-30-years in the world. At 5′11″ and 177-lbs, “Ronaldinho” started thrilling spectators all the way back in 1999 as he dazzled players and spectators with his mastery of playing forward. Before that, he was following in the cleat-steps of his father Joao by playing in amateur league beach and indoor soccer, or “futball”.

The 5′11″, 177-lb “Ronaldinho” began wowing spectators back in 1999 with his amazing mastery at the forward position. He began his amateur soccer career by following the path of his father Joao. Here he honed his talents by playing beach and indoor (”futbal”) soccer.

Pel is his nickname; he was born in Brazil with the given name of Edison (Edson) Arantes do Nascimento on October 23, 1940. While his birth certificate reads that his first name is Edison, his preference is Edson, but Pele is the name that this sports legend is known by.
