The Premiere League is the ultimate achievement with teams like Manchester United, new money men Manchester City (now reported to be the wealthiest club in the world thanks to their Billionaire Arab owner), Chelsea (Multi-millionaire Russian owner), Arsenal, and now with the re-emergence of Liverpool under the helm of ex legend player Kenny Daglish.

Historic rivals Manchester United and Liverpool have been drawn together for what will undoubtedly be a blockbuster of an FA cup third round. The draw was conducted by Noel Gallagher of Oasis and Serge Pizzorno of Kasabian and the match will take place on the first weekend of January.

To add injury to insult, Liverpool look likely to lose yet another player for a lengthy spell to a dislocated shoulder suffered in a humiliating defeat by Tottenham Hotspurs. The defender took on ex-team mate Peter Crouch in the dying minutes of the game which left him grounded.

New England Sports Ventures (NESV) successfully completed their takeover bid of Liverpool Football Club earlier this week. The high profile company, owner of the Boston Red Sox, had faced a long and expensive legal battle with previous owners George Gillette and Tom Hicks to take control of the club. The 300 million sale has caused fans to rejoice as the clubs massive debts have been written off.

Recently there has been much speculation over the future ownership of Liverpool Football Club, most notably a possible buyout by Chinese businessman Kenneth Huang. Back in 2008 he was linked to a possible sale of the club but lost interest after its 650m valuation; the club is currently valued at 350m.

After 6 years 1 UEFA Champions League(2004-05), 1 FA Cup(2005-06), 1 UEFA Super Cup (2005), and 1 FA Community Shield (2006) the Rafa-lution is finally over. Rafa could have been paid a whopping 16 million pounds under the terms of his contract but reports suggest that he has accepted a sum around 6 million. Poor guy. Don’t feel too bad for him though, because of the departure of one Jose Mourinho from Inter Milan it looks like he might already have a job in a few days time. Rafa did say before he left however;

There has not been a season in recent memory which has witnessed such a close title race in English football in over a decade or more. Since the advent of the English Premier League, most seasons have seen the competition reduced to a two horse race or either one of Manchester United, Chelsea or Arsenal dominating the rest of the division. Fortunately for fans of the league, this season has provided more twists and turns than can be afforded a donut. The result is a sweet concoction of action, drama, irony and incredible stories for the media and fans alike.
