Since the earlier times, wearing clothes has been a part of cultures around the globe. It has been practiced by different people for purposes such as protection from outside forces like heat and cold, and today it is used for fashion. Through the years clothes have undergone different changes and today different types of clothes such as the sports wear which are used by sports fanatics has evolved.

Every team has a history of kits, some good, some bad, some that make you wonder what they were thinking! Many of them stick in our minds for different reasons and can gain an everlasting place in the hearts of the supporters. Manchester United is no different, in fact with its glorious history and global recognition it is probably the most apt team in the world to consider for iconic kits.

Best-selling author Terry Pratchett’s most recent (2009) novel Unseen Academicals is a satire on the phenomenon of European football (soccer), plus a number of other social activities that often go along with it. For that reason, the book may have a greater appeal to a UK audience than in America; especially since one of the main themes is football hooliganism, a distinct UK phenomenon.
