25 years after their last appearance, the New York Cosmos Football (or ’soccer’) team have been reformed. Known for their wild personality as a club they attracted big names on and off the pitch, one such name is Pel, who has become the club’s honorary president.

Even though soccer is not the sport in the US, the history of soccer in the US is among the longest around, right next to those of the English or even the Scottish. After the English attempted to form some rules for that game of soccer, they were soon taken to the new World, where Americans learned to like this rising sport, right alongside another game that grew strong roots in America in those days: baseball. Actually, the American Football Association may be the second oldest sports league in the USA, following the Mlb one.

There are more than 300,000,000 people in the United States and the world population is quickly approaching 7 billion. Our country makes up just 5% of the entire global population, even less. The days of US athletic dominance may soon come to an end for this reason, unless the country wakes up from complacency and positions itself or the future.
