Which version of Jason Campbell is it Washington NFL supporters should check for this year? The quarterback that’s disliked and practically outside the sphere? Or might he be the next coming of Doug Williams, as Clinton Portis has so powerfully acknowledged recently?
His execution is what the upcoming year is all going to revolve around. Clinton Portis could finish this season with nearly eleven thousand yards rushing through his career, aligning himself for Hall of Fame deliberation with nearly 3 or four solid seasons left in his career.
It won’t matter.
Malcolm Kelly can turn out to be one of the choice jovial WRs in the game of football this season, capable of drawing parallels to Andre Johnson and Calvin Johnson by year’s end.
It will not matter.
Brian Orakpo can be the second coming of Lawrence Taylor, doing damage on the weak side of the full NFC East.
It will not mean much.
The only thing makes a difference is that Washington comes out on top in a minimum of 10 contests, and that Jason Campbell is the most eminent individual in every one of those expected ten victories.
Never mind the fact that he played 8 straight games in 2008 devoid of an interception, it was all about the incredible Clinton Portis during that run. When things went sour for the team, it wasn’t Clinton Portis who shouldered the blame.
It was Campbell, who wasn’t the lone Redskin with diminished stats in the course of the blackout, although was the lone recipient of the talk radio and newspaper drama that followed.
Most people are in Jason Campbell’s corner, and nobody leads up that corner’s cheers more so than I do.
Although from a place of objectivity, there is a very small difference between success and mess for him this approaching season, and nothing more Washington can do or is capable of doing will outweigh the stability he needs to deliver from week one and beyond.
