The danger of making your run too early is that there is a big possibility of being in an off-side position once the ball is kicked. The challenge for the man with the ball is to pass the ball at the exact moment that the recipient is about to make a run. At the same time the challenge for the man about to recieve the ball is not to go too early as he will be offside and obviously not too late as the defence will beat him to the ball.
