Professionals, college, and high school play soccer with two 45 minute halves. The rules of soccer is simple, two teams that consist of nine players and a goalie. The players are only allowed to play the soccer ball with their feet, and they are divided into offense and defense. Kicking the ball into the opposing team’s goal is the game’s main objective. Therefore, the only one allowed to use their hands as well as their feet are the goalies.
Juggling, which is done by keeping the ball in the air using the feet, knees, chest, or head, if often practiced by soccer players. If they use their hands or arm, then the opposing team will take possession of the ball. The opposing team can do a “throw-in” when a player from the other team knocks the ball out of bounds, and during the throw-in the feet must remain in the ground while the soccer ball is thrown back into play. If the ball is kicked over the line of a team own goal, then a “corner kick” is needed to which wherein the ball is kicked back into play to one of the teammates. A “goal kick” is the result when the team kicks the ball over the goal line of the opposing team, and this is taken by one the defensive players of that team.
There are circumstances where “fouls” are called. Examples of fouls include excessive pushing, unsportsmanlike behavior, and touching the ball using the hand or arm.
The referee will then call the ball dead on the spot where the foul happened, and the opposite team will be give a free kick.
When the score is still tied and the regulation time runs out, then there’s going to be a shootout where the one team’s goalie will play against the opposing team’s player. The game is won by whoever scores a goal first.
