Many people thought it couldn’t be done — that is the dreaded 0-16 record the Lions suffered in 08′. Accumulating an 0-16 record was less likely than going 16-0, which the New England Patriots accomplished in 07′ just a year prior.

Armed with some new players, a standout rookie quarterback, and a boosted morale, this team was ready to win some games in 2009.

It has been one bad draft pick after another for the Detroit Lions, nothing has worked. When will they get it right?

The offense of the Lions ranks in the middle of the leagues teams, the defense is among the lower half in all major categories. The division the Lions play in, The NFC North, doesn’t do them any good — the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears are all improved from last season.

The Lions jumped out to a nice start, and even led the game 10-7 at halftime. It really looked like the team had a shot to win this game, and this may have very well been the end of a dreadful losing streak! Could it really be?

Hopefully in 09′ the Lions can reach the .500 mark and maybe make the playoffs one year. If any city deserves a winning football team for once its Detroit, they have been beyond patient with their team.

Matthew Stafford can be the only one carrying the team, Calvin Johnson must play like one of the best wide receivers in the game and help make Stafford look good.

The Detroit Lions should do much better in 09′ then in 08′. Matthew Stafford has a high skill set and was drafted number 1 for a reason — while he might not be the “savior” to lead the franchise to the promise land, he is the cornerstone of the Lions now.
