Before 1863, soccer really didn’t have many rules. On one October day of that year in England, the Football Association was established, together with a constitution that the members have agreed upon. They were called the “Laws of Football” and were the most basic rules on which more rules would be based.

Sporting giants Adidas have recently released a series of gadgets that monitor heart rate, distance and speed when running; they have dubbed them ‘miCoach’. Unlike usual heart rate monitors, the data is not just output on a watch; instead they pair with software downloadable for free for all smartphones.

Leicester boys, Kasabian are hugely popular, particularly amongst the footballing crowd as their songs have been used in many football ad campaigns, highlights and match promotions. Their indie-rock-electro sound seems to strike a chord with the tempo of football and the fans it attracts; this is why they have signed a three year deal with the Barclays premier league.

Professionals, college, and high school play soccer with two 45 minute halves. The rules of soccer is simple, two teams that consist of nine players and a goalie. The players are only allowed to play the soccer ball with their feet, and they are divided into offense and defense. Kicking the ball into the opposing team’s goal is the game’s main objective. Therefore, the only one allowed to use their hands as well as their feet are the goalies.

Manchester United defender and Serbian Captain Nemanja Vidic has dismissed rumours that he intends on leaving the club. He has been repeatedly linked to big money moves abroad to Barcelona, Real Madrid and AC Milan.

Recently there has been much speculation over the future ownership of Liverpool Football Club, most notably a possible buyout by Chinese businessman Kenneth Huang. Back in 2008 he was linked to a possible sale of the club but lost interest after its 650m valuation; the club is currently valued at 350m.

Fabio Capello made the announcement that David Beckham’s international career has come to an end, but he wants David to get one last run in before it’s over. David Beckham has been playing for the England National Soccer Team for more than 10 years. He’s not only been a great player on the pitch, but he’s been an icon for the team.

If you’re a football coach or just goofing off with friends, most people like to impress their peers with their athletic prowess. Even more than showing off your skills, sportsmen like to demonstrate neat football tricks they’ve picked up over the years. Believe it or not, most tricks have nothing at all to do with the sport itself. Throwing an extra long pass is cool and evading 10 linebackers is impressive, but most tricks have more to do with style and skill than anything else. Some people like to showcase a cool new touchdown dance they created, while some can run down the field in a split second. Learning an impressive trick should play up on you assets while avoiding your shortcomings.

Soccer is an incredible sport, it’s well loved the world over. 2 generations ago most Americans knew nothing at all about the sport, but today it seems like each and every child is involved with a soccer team or they at least have friends and classmates that are.

Practice makes perfect, this is true. It’s true will many things. Regardless how much natural talent anyone has they still need to practice every day to improve them selves. Of course soccer is no different. Individual soccer drills are an important tactic to improving ones own game. They’re unfortunately largely overlooked because so much time spent on team building.
